The special thing about this kit is that it is the official third kit for the 2020/21 season. Then why was this shirt used in the Champions League game of the 2021/22 season? According to UEFA, each team must have three kits of play in their application. Since New Balance did not have a third kit for the current season, the kit from last season had to be used. It was direct instruction from UEFA to play in black (not in current blue kit).
